MISSION STATEMENT

Dave Jordan Racing is committed to developing the best bicycle racers through competition, coaching, and team training. We value teamwork and aspire to excellence. From national champion to first-year racer, we celebrate rewarding experiences and share Dave Jordan's vision and passion for our sport. His cycling legacy, as well as each rider's drive to do his or her best as an individual and athlete, combine to inspire DJR to outstanding achievements in cycling.

ABOUT

David Sean Jordan started the team in 2010. Having raced for more than 25 years on several different teams, he established his own to contend as a manager in the highly competitive New York City bicycle racing scene. He developed his riders through comprehensive coaching and mentoring and set high standards, knowing the rigors and etiquette of the sport.

Today, the team is composed of more than 40 athletes of all backgrounds: professionals and students, men and women, elite, amateur and junior racers that all enjoy competition, camaraderie, and friendship.

As a sub-team of the Century Road Club Association, Dave Jordan Racing is a part of a century of bike racing in New York City.

The team has grown in membership and recognition since 2010. Our elite team has finished in the top three at several nationally ranked events and has won local racing championships. Both of our men's and women's development squads have had great success at local and regional races and championships, focusing on teamwork, and supporting one another to reach team goals.

The future of Dave Jordan Racing is bright. We have an excellent management team in place and one of the top elite coaches in the city as our director, who aims to take the team to regional events this year. Our plans include an elite women's team and a master's team, with attention to national-caliber events. Eventually we hope to send some of our riders to international races in Europe and South America.

We greatly value the sponsors and companies who support DJR and inspire us to reach our goals, and beyond.

The DJR Teams

DJR Elite

Stalin Quiterio

Stalin started racing for DJR in 2014. Our lead elite racer, he was the 2015 Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup Champion; he finished 3rd at the 2015 Tour of Somerville Cycling Classic, and took to the podium again for a 2nd at the 2015 Dave Jordan Central Park Classic. In 2016 he put together a brilliant season, repeating as Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup Champion, and also claiming both the Overall Competition and the Sprint Competition for the I WILL FOUNDATION FBF Tuesday Night Racing series. On the national level he placed 6th in the AFA Cycling Classic Crystal Cup Criterium and 6th in the Dominican Republic Elite National Championships. Stalin was awarded the prestigious Jim Boyd Cup, the highest individual honor given by the CRCA, in 2016 and 2019. Stalin is the 2023 and 2024 NJ State Criterium Champion.

Jason Guzman

Jason bolstered our elite team when he joined at the beginning of 2015. He comes to DJR with experience racing in international events such as the Vuelta Independence Nacional Republica Dominicana. He provides expert and consistent support throughout the race, bringing his team mates to the line in podium position.

Also known as MR 100%

Roald "Ro" Ansano

Within a team you can have the best building blocks, but without mortar to hold them together, it can go sideways. This is our everything man. Lead out guy, bring back the break, set tempo. He trusts team tactics and we’re pretty sure he has orange blood in that DJ heart. This team wouldn’t be what it is without riders like Ro.

Alan Buday

Alan is Team Director of Rider Development for DJR. He is a USA Cycling Level 2 Cycling Coach and Certified Skills Instructor. He is also an accomplished Cat 2 racer in road, track, and cyclocross, with several top ten finishes in Pro 1/2 and masters events. Alan's wife, Sandy, is Team Senior Administrator, and their mighty Yorkie, Rocky, is our secret weapon.

George Suter

George Suter is a TT and Road Racer with International race experience and stories for days. Whether you need in-race support, post-race advice or just a good laugh and chat about his times with the man Dave Jordan, he can provide. We are thrilled to have him racing with us. His stories and endless heart for competition helps us feel closer to Dave.

Jason Gould

I had the great fortune of being teammates with Dave back in 1996 on the CRCA Sony Music Team. Dave was a great mentor to me and we did lots of hard racing together and made many incredible memories. I raced for 3 more seasons after that on the Breakaway Courier team with some amazingly talented riders and put down the bike in 1999 for a minute as the kids say but I guess it was about 18 years. I have been living and working in NYC as a freelance photographer since 1999.

These last few strange years I've rekindled my love for bike racing. Last year I joined the club again after 2 decades away and did most of the early season park races. If you saw a little dude in a CRCA jersey and MTB shoes making way too many failed attacks well that was me. I also have a great passion for MTB riding. I won the NYS MTB Series for my age group the last 2 seasons and was 10th at XC Marathon Nationals both years as well.

Adam Kollender

Adam is an agile racer who can find opportunities in sprint and breakaway situations. He has been with DJR for over 8 years and is considered highly by his teammates for his commitment to training and competition. In 2021, this dedication earned him a Cat1 upgrade. In addition to road racing, Adam also competes frequently on alternate terrain, including gravel, cyclocross, and mountain biking.

Jose Guzman

A racer who can relied upon to bury himself to chase down a break, and then recover to finish high enough to defend his Master's Leader's jersey? Jose is the man. He joined his son Jason on our Elite team in 2017, and has made a massive immediate impact in the P1/2 field.

Ray Diaz

Ray is a Cat 1 with possibly more experience than the entire rest of the peloton combined. A pivotal and popular figure in the NYC racing scene, he's the guy you can guarantee to be smiling on the start line. Don't let that fool you. Ray has the ability to rip the legs off us all. Dave Jordan Racing is proud to have him on the roster.

DJR Women

Laura Schulte

Originally from Finland, Laura landed in NYC in the beginning of 2019 and bought her first road bike during the pandemic. As a former NCAA track runner, she quickly fell in love with cycling and took on racing in the 2021 CRCA club series. Through the local cycling community, she met other strong riders, began training with like-minded women and found her way to the DJR women’s team. With multiple road race podiums and a TTT win in her first season, Laura is excited to be part of the team and to continue to develop her skills under the guidance and leadership of Alan Buday.

Alicia Jackson

Alicia is a passionate endurance athlete. She has participated in numerous marathons but after being plagued with injuries and side lined for a year she decided to conquer a half Ironman distance race for her come back. After finishing one half Ironman, she realized how much more effort was needed to become a proficient cyclist. During the pandemic, when all running races were cancelled for the foreseeable future she focused on cycling and came to love it. She is determined to become the best rider she can and proud to be a member of the DJR Team. She’s looking forward to making her mark in the upcoming season.

Sasha Lansky

Sasha is spreading the DJR ladies firepower to Massachusetts after dominating the NYC scene. She's a powerful sprinter who also consistently makes the selection when a break goes, and has multiple wins in Central Park, podiums in Giro del Cielo and an 8th in the P1/2/3 GC at Tour de Millersburg. Our "Queen of Limerock," Sasha took back to back wins at the Limerock Grand Prix in 2015 and 2016, and can always be counted on to lay it all on the line for the team. We're looking forward to joining her for some out of state races in MA.

Krista Riccardi

Originally from Long Island and have lived in NYC over 15 years. I bought my first road bike during the pandemic and it has taken over my life. I started with Sugoi NYC Velo almost a year ago and just want a more structured training plan and consistency. I have tried a handful of CRCA races and the Tour of Somerville in May. I want to learn the skills it takes to be a better rider. I'm working to get fit and stronger in the coming months/years. I love cycling so much and can't wait to learn more and grow as a rider being coached by Alan Buday and Plan to Peak Coaching.

Kate Strzalkowski

Shara Arnofsky

Upgrading to Cat 2 in 2018 - Shara can be relied upon to race smart and packs a powerful sprint. She won the Cat 3 Series Leader competition in the CRCA for 2017 and has taken wins at Lime Rock Grand Prix as well as Central Park. In 2018 she is integral to the development to our team, moving into one of the senior rider roles and contributing to the team’s success. We welcome her to the Cat 1/2 field and know she will continue to deliver results.

Womens Alumni

Mim Gilbert

Mim upgraded to Cat 2 after her second season racing, and has steadily added more wins and podiums to her palmeres. Her speciality is hard sprint finishes, and she spent 2017 challenging herself in the P1/2 field at big races such as the Tour of America's Dairyland and Somerville. In the tri-state area, she’s had podium success at Branchbrook, Orchard Beach, Grants Tomb and always shows consistency in the Central Park open races, with podiums in the big 3 - the Dave Jordan Classic, Lou Maltese Memorial, and Mengoni Classic.

Alyssa Richardson

Alyssa started out racing triathlons in 2013 and over the years changed her focus from short course to long distance triathlons where she started to fall more in love with cycling than any other sport. She did her first gran fondo in 2016 and has since traveled the world to ride, train and participate in gran fondos including the Maratona dles Dolomites. She is excited to focus on bike racing, join the Dave Jordan Racing women’s team and train under the leadership and coaching of Alan Buday.

Lindsey Dieter

A long time fixed gear cyclist, runner and avid Olympic weightlifter, Lindsey has been on her road bike since 2017. After training with Ostroy-NYC Velo’s development team for 1 year, Lindsey was hooked on racing. She is honored and excited to join the Dave Jordan Racing women’s team and progress under the skilled coaching of Alan Buday.

Kristi Roberts

Kristi brings experience and drive to the DJR Cat 3 from her many years of racing in the CRCA. She loves rolling or flat circuit races that she can hammer, like the 2019 Mystic Velo Criterium, where she won the 35+ Masters field from a solo breakaway. She came in third in the Masters 45+ at the 2019 Nutmeg State Games Criterium, is the 2018 Oregon Masters Women 50+ Criterium Champion, and won the 2017 Limerock Grand Prix Master's women's title. We sit up and listen when Kristi talks race strategy.

Maria Rosenfeld

Maria joined DJR in 2013 and steadily adds to her achievements on the bike. Her career highlights include 6th GC for the Green Mountain Stage Race, 6th GC in the Killington Stage Race, 2nd W 45+ in the New York State Criterium Championships, 2nd at the 2018 Metro Showdown and 3rd W 3/4 in the Tour of the Hilltowns. There aren't many racers tougher than Maria, and after some time off recovering from injury mid-2017, she returned as strong as ever for the final races of the season. She’s primed for a great season in 2018.

Ruth H. Karpes

If you happen to be riding anywhere near our team when we see Ruth in the park you'll be treated to a chorus of "Good Morning Ruth" ringing out from the peloton. Ruth is our good luck charm, the symbol of what joy on a bike is - and when she's not riding loops of Central Park she is an accomplished children's book author. You can see her work here:

DJR Cat 3 Men

Brook Taube

Brook joined the team in 2017 and brings enormous commitment, support, and energy to all things DJR. He has proven to be a selfless teammate that can do everything from leadouts to landing on podiums. While focused on the road, Brook also represents the team in gravel and mountain bike races ranging from Unbound to La Ruta de los Conquistadores. We are all grateful to have him as a teammate and friend.

John Olsen

We are excited to have John back in the DJR kit after a break of several years. He started racing in 1990 and raced with several teams, even forming his own team before he went on to race with Dave Jordan from 2009-2013. He has great stories to tell about both competing with Dave and racing for him over the years.

Max

Alejandro '“Ale” Espitia

Ale joined the Dave Jordan squad in 2021. As a former NCAA D1 tennis player, he looked to turn his competitive spirit and long-time interest in the Pro Tour into firsthand racing. Originally from Colombia, he has always had a passion for the sport of cycling and has demonstrated his ability to do great things on his bike. In one season he has moved up to Cat3, earned the trust of his seasoned teammates and has been a crucial part in several of their podium results.

Chris Washburne

Chris joined DJR team in 2019. As a longtime downhill ski racer, he developed a love for road cycling as a cross training sport. In 2014, he began bike racing in NYC and his priorities quickly switched from only going fast downhill to enjoying going fast both up and down hills on two wheels. Since then, he has consistently had top ten results in local races and at the tour of Killington. He is a reliable and respected teammate and has upgraded to Cat3 in 2022.

Zak Abdullah

Val Petrov

Val burst onto the scene in late 2014 and hasn’t looked back – establishing himself as both a sprinter and breakaway threat. His 2016 highlights include wins at The Army Spring Classic and The Branchbrook Park Series. He also secured the Overall Sprint Green Jersey at the Killington Stage Race.

Matt Slossberg

Matt raced way back in the day (early-mid '90s), took a 10+ year hiatus, and returns now to share the joy of it all with a great team, adding experience and firepower to the DJR lineup. And firepower he needed to score a 4th M4/5 on a rainy day at the 2016 CRCA Bear Mountain Classic. He went on to podium at the Tokeneke Classic Road Race, taking 3rd M4 Masters. His 2018 results include a 2nd in Central Park after a long breakaway, and with this he moves into our Cat 3 squad.

DJR Cat 4/5 Men

Tyler Poniatowski

Tyler is a lifelong rider with multiple bailed attempts at entering the NYC racing arena over the past decade (he has three kids under 6 years old), but decided to get a license and commit in 2020... which, of course, turned out to be a really eventful season. Looking forward, he's a big fan of the team, and and is keen to be part of the effort in 2021 and beyond.

Marty Gallagher

As a long-time cyclist who has always been interested in racing, Marty joined the Dave Jordan Racing team in 2021 to do just that. With a podium spot on his second race, he gets better at every whistle, learns something new at every practice and adds real firepower to our Men’s Dev squad.

Mens Alumni

Paul O’Donnell

An Aussie whose racing career spans a decade and both the USA with DJR and the UK with Kingston Wheelers, Paul’s another one of our climbing specialists. You’ll find him in all the mountainous races, or making the most of hilly upstate New York. In 2015 he took seventh place in the Bear Mountain Classic and in 2016 he gained altitude considerably, racing the Haute Route Pyranees, climbing 20,000+m over seven consecutive stages.

Ritchie Mariscal

Stephen Lee

Rob Kahn

Rob is happy as long as the road is pointing up, and has been an integral part of DJR since 2009. After skipping a large part of the 2017 season to ride up (and down) mountains in the Alps, he aims to return during the 2018 season, focusing on hilly races, such as the Capital Road Race in Albany. Off the bike he’s a successful music and audio producer.

Matt Z

Santiago Lyon

2021 will be Santiago's 11th season as a DJ. He brings a legendary abundance of energy, positivity, and the ability to inflict pain on other cyclists when driving the pace on the front of the bunch. In 2016 he inflicted pain in the mountains (the real mountains) racing the Haute Route Pyrenees, climbing 20,000+m over seven consecutive stages with teammate Paul.

Dan Berner

Dan is a selfless teammate, most often sighted near the front of the peloton ensuring breakaways don’t escape without him. In the process, he has collected several top 10 results, including 8th at Tokeneke Road Race, 4th at CRCA Turkey Race in 2016, 10th at Grants Tomb Criterium in 2017, 8th at the Dave Jordan Central Park Classic in 2018, 5th at Bear Mt Classic in 2019 and 9th in Giro de Cielo Road Race in 2019. He's a dad to two young sons he hopes will one day share his love of cycling.

J Peter Donald

An adrenaline junkie at heart, Peter began cycling seriously in 2012 and has since completed a two-hundred mile charity ride across Massachusetts for cancer research annually. Donald comes to DJR to race competitively in the 2018 season. While not on the bike, Peter helps better reputation, communicate, and ensure good work gets recognized.

Greg DeFiore

Greg represents DJR on Staten Island. He's a seasoned racer and a longtime member of DJR, with wins in the Lucarelli & Castaldi cup, and multiple top tens in both crits, circuit races, and road races.
